Aron Trask

Aron Adam Trask is the golden child, born into favor that he has done nothing to earn and will never lose. Where his twin brother Caleb Trask is dark, questioning, and conflicted, Aron is light, trusting, and emotionally straightforward. He is gentle and kind by nature, yet his kindness costs him nothing because he has never experienced true rejection or need. Aron represents the Abel archetype—the favored child whose very innocence and acceptance of his favored status wounds his darker brother.

Aron grows into a beautiful young man whose delicate sensibility and gentle nature are universally admired. He is incapable of understanding Caleb Trask's hunger for approval precisely because approval has always been freely given to him. Though he means no harm and harbors no cruelty, his very existence as the favored twin becomes a source of torment for his brother. Aron is fundamentally passive—accepting the world as it presents itself, never fighting, never questioning. The novel tests whether such unchallenged goodness is genuine virtue or merely the absence of temptation.
