Biddy

Biddy enters Pip (Philip Pirrip)'s life as a quiet but transformative presence, initially employed to help manage his sister's care. Biddy sees Pip (Philip Pirrip) clearly—his discontent, his shame about his origins, his infatuation with Estella—and speaks to him with a directness born of real affection rather than flattery. She understands that true gentility lies not in elevated station but in character and consideration for others. Though Pip (Philip Pirrip) often misinterprets her quiet wisdom as criticism, Biddy never holds his moments of unkindness against him, extending forgiveness with the same quiet conviction she brings to everything else.
